The word "sustainability" is often used as nothing more than a marketing label. At starmate, though, it means far more: it's an integral part of our operational excellence and our shared success.

To make sure we don't just talk about responsibility but actually measure it, we work closely with our partner uptodate.

Where do we stand today? (The status quo)

Thanks to uptodate's precise ESG analysis, we gained a clear picture of our starting position at the end of 2025. The result is encouraging, but it also shows us exactly where we still need to improve:

  • Social (9.4/10): We're already excellently positioned in this area, underlining our culture as a responsible employer.
  • Governance (8.1/10): Our corporate governance and ethical guardrails (for AI use, for example) are also already at a very high level.
  • Environment (5.6/10): This is our biggest challenge for 2026, as our goal is to substantially strengthen this foundation.

Our goals: sustainability embedded in OKRs

We don't believe in non-binding checklists. That's why we've built our sustainability goals directly into our OKR framework (Objectives and Key Results) for 2026.

Here's a selection of our key initiatives (our "Rocks"):

  • Green energy: We're switching our entire energy supply to certified green electricity.
  • Responsible supply chain: We're introducing supplier audits, focusing on local partners and ethical sourcing standards. Partners who don't meet our minimum ESG standards will be consistently phased out.
  • Sustainable mobility: We're promoting environmental awareness, among other things by putting an official e-bike charging station into operation.
  • Transparency through reporting: By the end of 2026, we will publish our first sustainability report in line with the official ESRS standards.

Why we do this

We deliberately avoid "greenwashing." Every statement in our reporting has to be backed by concrete action. Our goal is to establish starmate, by the end of 2026, as a company that inseparably combines technological innovation with social and environmental responsibility.

We're looking forward to taking this path together with you – our customers, partners, and the entire team.
